Hearing FAQs
We’ve gathered some questions our patients often ask us. If you have any additional questions or just want to talk to us about your hearing health, then call us today.
Hearing aids won’t return your hearing to the way it was before you had hearing loss, but they will help you hear significantly better. Hearing aids are designed to not only provide volume, but clarity as well. Wearing hearing aids will allow you to hear sounds you haven’t heard in years and will give you the clarity to understand speech.
The more advanced the technology is then the better you will be able to hear. With a higher level of technology you are able to hear clearly and don’t have to adjust the hearing aid as much. However, the level of technology depends largely on your degree of hearing loss and your lifestyle. Talk to us today about what level of hearing aid will be best for you and your listening environments.
Adjusting to hearing aids is different for every person. The best way to adjust to wearing hearing aids is to wear them as much as possible. The more you wear your hearing aids then the quicker your brain can adjust to hearing sounds again. We schedule regular follow-up appointments to check-in and see how your hearing is doing and to make any adjustments to your programming. We want to help you experience better hearing and we will be with you through every step of the process.
Hearing aids typically last 5-7 years. You won’t need to upgrade your hearing aids unless you want to for quite some time. If properly cared for and brought in for regular maintenance and cleanings, your hearing aids will last you for many years. However, many patients like to take advantage of the new technology and upgrade their hearing aids every 3 years when the manufacturers release new technology.
